The blue supergiant star, HDE 226868, is locked in an orbit with a black hole - Cygnus X-1. If you have a small telescope it is possible to see this interesting star. The black hole is not visible but its companion star is. This system is located in ...the constellation Cygnus, The Swan. The video explains where to look. It is possible to capture an image of this star with an SLR digital camera, Nikon, Canon and others produce cameras capable of long time exposures. The video also demonstrates using online telescopes to capture an image of this star. The animations in this video were created with Starry Night software.

Evidence has been accumulating for several decades that many galaxies harbor central mass concentrations that may be in the form of black holes with between a few million to a few billion time the mass of the Sun.
In this public lecture, Professor... Genzel discusses measurements over the last two decades, employing high resolution infrared and radio imaging and spectroscopy on large ground-based telescopes that prove the existence of such a massive black hole in the centre of our Milky Way, beyond any reasonable doubt. These data also provide key insights into its properties and environment.
Future interferometric studies of the Galactic Center black hole promise to be able to test gravity in its strong field limit. Professor Genzel also briefly summarizes the cosmological evolution of massive black holes.

This video goes over how black holes are created, what we would see if the Earth was orbiting a black hole, what would be seen if light reaches a black hole, what would happen if we were to enter a black hole, how a black hole could create a wormhole..., and goes through a certain type of experiment (called a dumbhole) to explore black holes. A dumbhole is similar to a black hole, but instead of not permitting light to escape, a dumbhole does not permit sound to escape.
