This is a series of video clips taken when visiting the Hoover Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant back on December 28, 2008. Hoover Dam is located at Lake Mead at the Arizona and Nevada State line and just East of Las Vegas on US Highway 93. The highw...ay goes over the dam, but a by pass bridge is being built across the Colorado River just down stream from the dam due to be completed in September of 2009.

Video part 1 mainly shows the outside area of the dam as viewed from the visitor center observation area and from the top of the dam and part 2 are video clips are scenes taken inside some of the inner passage way tunnels and also inside one of the big main 650 feet long and 75 feet high generator halls with some good views of the water powered turbine generator units.(Amateur video)

Thames Water commissioned this short film mark the 150th anniversary of The Great Stink. In the hot summer of 1858, the stench of sewage in the River Thames so offended MPs that Parliament was suspended and the Government agreed to "take immediate me...asures for abating the dangerous nuisance caused by the noxious state of the Thames". A leading Victorian engineer, Sir Joseph Bazalgette, was commissioned to design and build a system of sewers which would remove the sewage from the Thames, sending it instead to be treated the East End at new sewage treatment works in Beckton and Crossness. The sewers still form the backbone of London's sewage system today, but the pressures of population growth, climate change, and changes in lifestyle are pushing the Victorian-built system beyond its limits, and the health of the Thames, is once again, at risk.
