Both Sea Stars, like the sunflower star featured here, and Sea Urchins are members of the same family (echinodermata) - one of the main things they have in common, is that they both have awesome tube feet. This video shows them live and up close at ...the Seattle Aquarium. Video is very clear, close-ups show great details, and entire video is put to music. (01:27)

This video has good imaging and content. It's neat to see how many "legs" they have if you've never seen one up close before. (01:01)

This short video gives excellent real life footage of a sea urchin in its natural environment. The purple sea urchin is an aptly named species, easily identified by the strikingly vivid, purple spines that project from its rounded body. These conspic...uous spines are attached to a hard outer body wall, known as the ‘test’. Also attached to the test are suckered, tentacle-like appendages, known as ‘tube feet’, which are used in locomotion, feeding and respiration. This is a great resource to help build background knowledge and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (1:09)

This short video gives excellent real life footage of the physical appearance of an Edible Sea Urchin. The edible or common sea urchin (Echinus esculentus) has a large, rounded 'shell', which is actually an external skeleton, correctly called a 'test...', composed of calcareous plates. It is usually pinkish-red in color but more rarely may be shades of yellow, green or purple. The shape of the test varies depending on the depth of the water; those of individuals living in shallow water tend to be more flat than those of individuals living in deep water. This is a great resource to help build background knowledge and to help make real world connections between nature and the classroom. (1:10)
