How NASA Will Protect Astronauts From Space Radiation
From YouTube, produced by NASA Goddard
August 1972, as NASA scientist Ian Richardson remembers it, was hot. In Surrey, England, where he grew up, the fields were brown and dry, and people tried to stay out of the Sun, indoors and televisions on. But for several days that month, his TV picture kept breaking up. “Do not adjust your set,” he recalls the BBC announcing. “Heat isn’t causing the interference. It’s sunspots.” (05:32)

The Underground Life Forms that have Taken Over Centralia
From YouTube, produced by Verge Science
Centralia, Pennsylvania was a town destroyed by a nightmarish, decades-long subterranean fire. While there are almost no people left there, scientists have discovered some new residents: heat-loving microbes who have appeared to capitalize on the fire. In this “Trial & Error” episode, we collect and regrow some of the mystery microbes from Centralia, and try to figure out how they got there in the first place. (09:46)

Elon's LUDICROUS Plan To Nuke Mars Into Earth
From YouTube, produced by Logically Answered
Elon Musk has been a strong proponent of traveling to and colonizing Mars, and once this has been accomplished he plans on hopefully terraforming Mars. Scientists have been proposing various ways we could successfully accomplish this from using orbital mirrors to heat up Mars to launching asteroids at Mars. However, Elon Musk, on the other hand, has been suggesting that we nuke Mars for a couple of years at this point. By strategically nuking Mars, he believes that we can melt the polar caps on Mars which would create bodies of water as well as release greenhouse gasses which would further heat up Mars. This video explains how Elon's plan to nuke mars would work and the pros and cons of terraforming Mars using nuclear weapons. (10:18)

The Supernova At The End of Time
From YouTube, produced by PBS Space Time
Good news, everyone: it looks like the universe is going to end with a series of catastrophic explosions. The very, very long story short is that the universe ends in heat death, as it approaches maximum entropy, and its eternal exponential expansion drives it to effective utter emptiness and absolute cold. But, new calculations have revealed we may be able to look forward to one last source of astrophysical cataclysms - a new type of supernova that can only happen at the end of the universe. (16:30)
